Organizers in Beijing released a special report looking at the lives of girls and parents in relation to the internet on October 11 at an official symposium held to mark the seventh .

The event was sponsored by the (ACWF) and co-organized by China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), domestic internet giant Tencent and the CCTV (China Central Television) Charity Night program.

ACWF President , , vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and , vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, attended the meeting.

According to the report, more effort should be made to help children strike a balance between their academic studies and leisure activities; raise awareness of personal privacy; differentiate positive from negative elements on the internet; and, address the phenomenon of imbalanced distribution of internet resources in different regions.

Researchers advised government departments, internet-based enterprises, households and schools to help children develop positive values towards the utility of the internet, enhance their relevant skills, integrate education on internet-related competence into curricular programs, and set up an institution to classify online information.

Speaking at the gathering, Huang emphasized that President Xi Jinping has attached great importance to the healthy growth of children nationwide; instructed departments of education and women's federations to rally support from the public towards the development of family education; and, urged the entire society to shoulder their due responsibilities in ensuring children growing up healthily.

Huang said it is a dutiful mission for women's federations, as urged by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to press ahead with the work on family and children, promote children's healthy growth and implement the basic State policy of gender equality.

In addition, CCTF and Tencent jointly issued a handbook to guide children about how to better utilize the internet and protect themselves from harmful information online.

Attending experts held a discussion on topics connected with the cultivation of innovative modes to guarantee children's growth in the digital era, efforts made by internet-based firms to ensure the correct utility of the internet by girls, the building of closer parent-child relationships, and the example set by parents for their kids.

Representatives from the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, several internet-based companies, research institutes and representative families made a joint appeal to the public to build a healthy internet-related environment for girls.
